pregnancy and paediatrics

Pregnancy

You won’t need us to tell you that a woman’s body changes a lot during pregnancy! Those changes include the softening of ligaments, increased weight and changes to posture which can lead to additional pressure on joints in various parts of the body, including the spine and pelvis.

We are trained to help you deal with these stresses and strains during pregnancy and after birth, and will use safe, gentle techniques to help relieve any discomfort and help you to relax during this important time.

We often work in tandem with midwives, health visitors, doulas and lactation consultants. We have trained extensively to gain extra knowledge and treatment approaches to assist and help pregnant mums through their pregnancy, labour, delivery and beyond.

"I saw Francesca throughout my pregnancy and she helped with back and hip pain. My son was also lying in such a position that my midwife told me there was a very good possibility I would need a c-section. We worked on keeping my pelvis aligned and I was really surprised when I went for my 38 week scan to find out he had managed to turn himself! I was so glad to be able to experience the water birth that I so badly wanted! "- AB, from Saltcoats

CoreHealth Chiropractic Paediatrics

Paediatrics

Babies have very delicate skeletons compared with our adult bone structure so we use extremely gentle techniques when treating the younger members of our practice. We have found that treating babies can often help to soothe and relax them.

Chiropractic techniques are suitable for children at all stages of development, not just babies. Children and teenagers are subject to many strains as they grow and we aim to support them too.

We have over a decade of experience in treating children with specific needs, such as those with physical disabilities or learning challenges along with premature infants.

We often find other professionals refer children to us as we are used to working with a modified approach to issues such as Hypermobility syndromes.

We love to work in conjunction with any other professionals your child may be in contact with to complement, and form part of a child-centered treatment team allowing them to grow and express their full potential in life.

“Francesca is so gentle with all of our children, I trust her implicitly. She engages well with them and has got to know them as individuals which allows her to support their emotional and physical well being”. - JR, Stranraer.

CoreHealth Chiropractic Paediatrics

Why do babies see a chiropractor?

Not all babies need to be adjusted, but we believe all babies should be checked. That way, if any areas of their spine are found to be out of alignment, they can be gently corrected and function can be restored.

We often see babies and children after they have been experiencing symptoms but, as with adults, we believe that being pro-active and preventing an issue before it arises is the key to good health. Providing our kids a musculoskeletal and neurological check-up as soon as possible sets them up for their next step in life.

The youngest patient we’ve welcomed into our practice was 2 days old!
