Frequently asked questions

Will I be the oldest/youngest, unhealthiest/fittest, only male/female in the class?

Classes are entirely mixed and available to all, whatever level you are at!

I’m not very ‘bendy’, will I be able to do the class?

Stretching features heavily in classes. Mainly because most of us need to do it more! Nobody is pushed passed their tolerance level but you will probably find that as each week progresses you will start to see improvement in your flexibility.

I’ve never been to a pilates class before. What should I bring?

Mats and head-cushions are provided. Loose, comfortable clothing is advised and its always a good plan to have some water with you.

Will pilates help me to lose weight?

There are many cases where pilates (as part of a healthy lifestyle) have assisted in weight loss/toning. If you can commit to regularly practicing, as with most forms of exercise, it can help.

I have a long-term injury. Will this prevent me from doing certain things?

You will be asked to complete a registration form prior to starting a pilates session so we can learn a bit more about your health history and potential limitations. Any details you disclose will then be taken into account when structuring the class and you will have the option to check in with the instructor throughout to ensure nothing is being aggravated. If in doubt, speak to your GP prior to taking up any form of exercise and ask their opinion on your readiness to attend.

What happens if I can’t attend a whole block of classes?

Classes are progressed week-by-week and so missing a few weeks can reduce the effectiveness of the planned programme. Often we can accommodate for known breaks i.e. holidays, so please call prior to booking and we can ensure that you can get the most out of your pilates experience.
