Functional Rehabilitation

CoreHealth Pilates

Pilates is a system of exercises which aim to strengthen the human mind and body and improve alignment and posture. It increases your strength, stability and balance.

Our classes

Classes will hopefully be back soon and will be held on Tuesday mornings in Prestwick and on Tuesday evenings at the Henderson Scout Hall in Kilmarnock. Classes are booked as a block in advance.

Our instructor

Francesca offers a structured step-by-step method for rehabilitation. She teaches the APPI modified pilates method and completed her full matwork certification back in 2011.

Pilates

What is Pilates?

Pilates is an exercise modality that was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. He created a system of exercises which were intended to strengthen the human mind and body and improve alignment and posture.

What is the APPI method?

The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) was founded by Glenn and Elisa Withers who are both physiotherapists.

They originally developed the ‘Modified Pilates’ course using up-to-date rehabilitation research and linking it with traditional Pilates movements to give us a structured, safe, step-by-step method for rehabilitation.

Pilates for beginners

Can beginners do Pilates?

Francesca has extensive training in teaching Pilates and with her background as a chiropractor, she is able to structure classes around each participant's needs (don’t worry, you’ll never be singled out!).

This means that you can take part in a class at any stage in your rehab journey knowing that you will be safe whilst you stretch, strengthen and work towards whatever your goals may be. Every class she teaches is set at a ‘mixed ability’ level and always include various options to suit everyone.

What our participants say

“Francesca is always upbeat and enthusiastic. She is aware of the needs if the individuals in the class and modifies exercises accordingly. The result is a fun, enjoyable and beneficial class.”
