CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - made up of the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams (about the weight of a 20p piece), our practitioners work with your body to release any restrictions in this system.

CST was pioneered and developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger who became fascinated with how the fluid moved around our nervous system and the role it plays in nourishing and detoxing.

He studied as a clinical researcher at Michigan State University in the 1970s and he proved the existence of movement between the bones of the skull and their link to this fluid encased underneath.

At this time, he also oversaw projects which involved working with children with the diagnosis of Autism.

SomatoEmotional Release (SER) is a progression of CST which aims to help the mind and body deal with the residual effects of trauma.

What our patients say

“I have been attending sessions recently and my various aches and pains which have been resolved completely! A number of issues have improved from lower back pain to other chronic health concerns. CranioSacral Therapy in particular has helped to get to the bottom of longstanding issues I thought might never improve. In receiving CST, I feel I am now more in tune with my body.”

“The treatments are so relaxing and you feel like walking on air when you are finished. Lovely!!!!!”

AM, Kirkmichael

“During my sessions I feel secure and able to express my suppressed emotions. I have gained the courage, with gentle prompting and encouragement, to connect with my self-worth and I have been able to speak openly for the first time about my feelings. I always feel free of the last issue and eager to address the next. I can now lead a normal life without the fears that used to haunt me.”
